This is an older piece from a time when I painted exclusively with brushes on canvas. Pete's Potatoes was painted in response to the saying, "In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is King". Well I thought, potatoes have eyes. Would the potato with actual eyes be King in their culture?
Apparently so, because as we can see, the revolution is upon us! The potatoes have risen up against their farmer masters and, following the lead of the King Potato, set fire to the homestead and gone on the march!
A bit of whimsy, word play and surrealistic embellishment from a bygone era. The potatoes are looking for a new home :) Do you dare invite them home?
Pete's Potatoes is an acrylic on canvas painting, on a double thick canvas stretcher. It is wired and ready to hang.
