This is the second piece in a three part series where The Death Pig, a personification of greed, plays a significant role.
In this iteration of The Death Pig, we can see the greedy hog offering to play a game with the viewer; the shell game, or a version of Three Card Monty. If you're not familiar with the game, all you need to know is that players never win.
Instead of using shells to play the game, the Death Pig is using hives, the homes of his worker bee underlings and the prize is one lonely grain of wheat. In the background, hidden under tarps are piles of wheat that are already possessed by the Death Pig. Directly below him is a sign that reads, "do not feed the animal" with "do not" crossed out in red paint.
The Death Pig Makes a Deal is a gouache and ballpoint pen piece on illustration board, 7.5" x 9.5", matted, framed and ready to hang.
